Juice Fast – 48 Hour Juice Cleanse Morning Day 1
Today (6:00 AM this morning) I start my juice fast or more specifically my 48 hour juice cleanse. From the book Juicing for Life: A Guide to the Benefits of Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Juicing I’ll be following the juice fast section on page 301.
Juice fasts are an excellent way to detoxify your body and for those naysayers who claim the body doesn’t need cleansing, I’ll just say, try it!
My morning recipe this time is the Ginger Hopper. I was hungry so I made a double batch ( Just double the recipe below). It made about 16 ounces using my Omega J8004 Juicer.
Juice Fast – Breakfast
What a way to start a juice fast! This is a delicious recipe. Not too much ginger and just enough apple to sweeten the juice a bit. Use a Granny Smith apple or a Red Delicious if you want it sweeter.
7:00 AM – Ginger Hopper – 1/4 inch slice ginger root, 4-5 carrots greens removed, 1/2 apple. Push ginger through juicer with carrots and apple.
The Ginger Hopper is a good recipe for migraine headaches.
Juice Fast – Mid Morning Snack
10:30 AM – Cherie’s Cleansing Cocktail – 1/4 inch slice ginger root, 1 beet, 1/2 apple, 4 carrots (greens removed). Push ginger, beet and apple through juicer with carrots. I added a couple of extra carrots. Makes about 16 ounces.
Cherie’s Cleansing Cocktail is excellent for clearing up constipation.
A word on fasting: Diabetics should seek a doctors approval before trying a juice fast. If you have no health conditions or concerns you can fast from 1 to 5 days anytime you like, but if you fast for longer than 5 days, I recommend you seek a health care professionals supervision.
Watch for my next article on lunch and dinner.
